Longest Light:
A Solstice Sunset Crater Ceremony

Saturday, June 20 2026

On the longest day of the year
we’ll gather inside Cinder cone crater
for a guided sunset meditation & ceremony

This is a rare opportunity to descend into an extinct volcano within Lassen Volcanic National Park and sit together in stillness, held by the vastness of the landscape. We’ll work with the energy of the solstice, meditating for world peace, and calling in clarity, connection, and a remembrance of our deeper sense of awe.

What to expect:

We’ll begin with a guided hike through striking lava beds and cinder fields, making our way up to the summit before descending into the crater for our practice. Afterward, we’ll hike back down together with the softening light.

Connect with the nature around you through each of your senses, learn about the ecology of the landscape, and tune in to your sense of the sacred and the feeling of being held by the earth. Held inside the embrace of the earth herself, this will be unlike any other collective meditation you’ve experienced!

This is a moderate day hike (around 4 miles round trip with about 1,000' elevation gain) at a steady, supportive pace. Light refreshments will be provided.

Optional: You’re welcome to extend the experience with a casual campout nearby and join in a morning lakeside awakening yoga practice. Bring your own gear, food, and anything you need to be comfortable. Paddle boards are a great option for nearby Butte Lake! Or, plan to explore other parts of the incredible Lassen Volcanic National Park while you are in the area!
